BARBERTON---Barbara A. Horvath (nee Maurer) of Barberton passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021, after a lengthy struggle. She was born December 13, 1940, to the late James and Margaret Maurer in Barberton, and lived her entire life in the Barberton area. She attended St. Augustine’s Grade School and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1958. In 1960 she married Jim Horvath, the love of her life, and soon became a full-time mom to their three children. In retirement she and Jim enjoyed traveling and attending their grandchildren’s sporting events. They were also active in the ministries of caring at St. Augustine Church for many years serving doughnuts after Mass, feeding meals to the less fortunate of the community, and providing funeral luncheons for many families.
Besides her parents and many other friends and family, she is preceded in death by her dearest friend, Goldie Schake. She leaves behind Jim, her loving husband of 61 years, daughter Lynne (Keith) Holcomb, sons Jim (Teresa) Horvath and John Horvath, all of Barberton. Her four grandchildren, Alex (Taylor) Horvath of Canal Fulton, Dylan Holcomb, Luke (Sarah) Holcomb, and Audrey Holcomb, all of Barberton, and great-grandson Ashton Horvath, will all miss her terribly. Among numerous other loving friends and family, she leaves behind her dear friends Tom and Margie Dukeman of The Villages, FL.
Her children would especially like to express their deep affection and gratitude to their dad, who so attentively and lovingly took care of mom for the last several years. Dad, you did an amazing job, and we’re so proud of you!
