D. Michael Meeker

D. Michael Meeker, 74, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 2, 2023. Mike was born in Barberton on June 20, 1949 to Dale and Doris Meeker.  He was a graduate of Norton High School and a long term resident of Barberton. Mike retired from Reiter Dairy in 2007 and continued his work at Meeker's Taxidermy until March 2023.  He was a member of St. Augustine Church, an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved camping at Tappan Lake! Mike is preceeded in death by his son, Victor, and also his parents.  He was a devoted husband for 52 years to his wife, Charlotte; a loving father to Vic, Sarah (Todd), and Paul (Cassie); beloved grandfather to Jacob, Nico, Massyn and Liam: brother to Davey (Debbie) Meeker, Diana (Tim) Yokum, Carol (Dave) Williams: and many loving nieces, nephews, friends, and his Tappan Family. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff and special friend, Fran, at St. Luke's Lutheran Community at Portage Lakes for their loving care and support. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 8, 2023 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 204 Sixth St. NW., Barberton. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling Hours Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the Silva-Hostetler Funeral Home, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. Memorials may be made to St. Augustine Endowment Fund or Barberton Area Community Ministries.
