BARBERTON - Dennis Mollric was born and raised in Barberton until his passing September 7, 2021 (83 years young). During his lifetime, he was a Barberton Police Officer for 30 plus years and then became a Summit County Special Deputy for 20 plus years. During peacetime, he served in the US Army for 2 years, where he was stationed in Korea for intelligence. His proudest career achievement was training individuals how to properly handle a firearm, and helped to establish the Sheriff’s training facility. Although he enjoyed working, nothing was more important to him then his family. He is preceded by his wife Sharlene of 57 years and always referred to her as his #1 girlfriend. Even after her passing, he would still bring her fresh flowers every week. He is also preceded by his brother Ronald; their dog Casper; and his parent's Tess and Joe. He is survived by his eldest daughter Danielle and son-in law Mark, along with his youngest daughter Christine. He has 4 grandchildren Sabrina, Sam, Jacob, and Catrina. He is also survived by his youngest brother Jody and wife Mel; his nieces and nephews; and his trusty dog Nicholas. Our favorite thing to do as a family was to have large holiday parties with delicious food and create nut rolls. He was a devoted Catholic his entire life. For decades, Dennis and Sharlene were actively involved with St. C&M. Upon its closing, they became members at St. Francis de Sales. Danielle, Sabrina, Christine and Endre would attend Sunday mass with him every weekend. If he wasn't working or at church, you could always find him doing one of the following: cruising the entire world with Sharlene; creating stain glass; gardening, or reading books. After Sharlene's passing, you could find him either at the Barberton YMCA or baking cookies. Dennis will always be remembered for the life he lived through the stories he told. Life is too short, so enjoy it by going on adventures. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 4019 Manchester Rd., Akron. Burial at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Calling Hours, Wednesday, September 15, 2021 from 6-8 p.m. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd.
