Edward John Shega born November 2, 1931 on Hametown Road in Norton Township, passed away on June 28, 2023 at the age of 91. He graduated from Norton High School in 1949 where he was selected for the All-Metro First Team in football his senior year. He was also a three-year starting catcher on the baseball team that won a Metro League Championship. He began his working years on the family dairy farm on Hametown Road. He later operated his own dairy farm in Wadsworth Township. On leaving the farm, he was employed by Bridgestone Firestone, from where he retired. He also enjoyed playing his button box accordion at various jam sessions around the area. His greatest pleasures were family gatherings and supporting his children and grandchildren in their various activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Helen Shega, sister Dorothy Denholm, and first wife Jeanne. He is survived by wife Nancy, daughter Carole Kline (Larry), Sons Tom Shega (Cindy), Tim Shega (Paula), and Jerry Shega (Patti) and stepsons, Michael McGill (Peg), Scott McGill, Don McGill (Susan), Kurt McGill (Cindy). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Calling hours will be held from 2:00-3:45pm on Sunday, July 2nd, 2023 at Silva-Hostetler Funeral Home, 1199 Wooster Rd. W., Barberton.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00pm Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Wadsworth at the convenience of the family.
