BARBERTON---Eileen (Shearer) Friedman passed away Jan. 16, 2021 in the comfort of her home surrounded by loved ones at 89. Her earthly body gave out but her spirit remains. Her loving and friendly nature impressed upon all who had the fortune of meeting her. Her faith in the Lord carried her throughout life and its many hurdles and was a longtime member of St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church in Akron, Ohio.
The daughter of farmers, Donna and William, Eileen came from very humble beginnings. As tenacious as ever, Eileen put herself through nursing school and worked at Barberton Citizens Hospital as the head nurse in the recovery room for 30 years until retirement.
Eileen and Nick, her husband of fifty years, enjoyed traveling together, fishing and proudly designed their dream home together where they retired comfortably. Her kindness lasted throughout life and extended through faith, as Eileen always said she could not enjoy anything if others around her were in need. Her generosity helped many family members and friends.
She is proceed in death by her husband, Nicholas J. Friedman, her parents, William and Donna Shearer, her brothers, Tom, Jim, Bob and Ed, her grandson, Alex and her son, Randy .
Eileen is survived by sons David (Michelle) Winans, Mark (Sara) Friedman and Dennis (Donna) Friedman; her grandchildren, Nicholas A. (Kate) Friedman and Lindsay (Tyler) and great grandson, James Richard Friedman. As well as sibling, Rita Esterle; niece, Cindy Bishop; daughter-in-law, Elodie and her four children, Kevin, Aaron, Brandon and JD ; sister-in-law, Carol as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family would like to offer special thanks and appreciation to her loving caregivers, Tracy, Paula, Tangie, Lori and Heartland Hospice.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 4019 Manchester Rd., Akron, Ohio 44319 at 10:00am with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:00 am. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Francis de Sales Church, Memorare Center, in her memory.
