NORTON---Sgt. Gerald C. Wise Sr., 80, passed away at his residence on January 3, 2020. Jerry was born in Akron and was a graduate of Norton High School. He was a previous member of Sherman Church and currently a member of Southwest Church of Christ in Barberton. Jerry retired as a Sergeant after 42 years from the Summit County Sheriff Dept. He was a member of the Blue Knights and F.O.P. Lodge 139 where he was an office holder and did the fundraising for the annual basketball game against the Pittsburgh Steelers for 28 years. Preceded in death by his parents Claude and Helen; son Greg Trenary; and grandson Jason Trenary; he is survived by his loving wife Darlena; sons Mike, Mark, Jerry Jr. and Steve; daughters Kimberly and Danielle-Lynne; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers Gene, Bob and Dale; and sisters Judi and Joyce. A special thank you to Chauncey Jr., Chauncey III, Dalton, Jonathan and Jordan and also to Elara Caring for their care of Jerry. Calling Hours will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020 from 2-5 p.m. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. Funeral Service to follow at 5:00 p.m. Pastor Nathan Robinson officiating. Cremation to follow.
