Jeffrey "Jeff" A. Saylor

Jeffrey “Jeff” Saylor, age 65, passed away suddenly on April 9th, 2024 in Wadsworth, OH.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Theda Saylor and his brother, Ron Saylor.  Leaving behind his wife, Barb Saylor of 48 years; Son’s Drew (Amanda), Scott (Alex), Daughter Kristin (Rob) and grandchildren, Jackson (12), Charlie (10), Grayson (9), Victoria (8), Cali (6), Crew (1). He also leaves behind his loving brother Dale Saylor (Heather), sister-in-law Mary Saylor and numerous nieces, nephews, and loved ones. Jeff's passion for sports was evident from an early age, fostered by his two older brothers who coached and played alongside him. Excelling in every sport he participated in, Jeff was the quarterback in football, shortstop/second baseman from little league through college, and point guard in basketball. He captained the Barberton Magics football team, was named to multiple all-star teams in football as well as baseball. His athletic prowess was obvious as a collegiate athlete. Beyond his achievements on the field, Jeff's impact extended to teaching and coaching for over three decades. His dedication to student-athletes earned him a well-deserved recognition in both the Barberton Athletic Hall of Fame and the Greater Akron Baseball Hall of Fame. Yet, Jeff's influence went beyond the realm of sports. He was a beacon of inspiration in his devotion to family. His high school sweetheart, Barb, was the love of his life, and his children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. Jeff's legacy will be deeply cherished, and his presence will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. A heart-felt thank you is sent to the Wadsworth EMS staff, Wadsworth Police Department, and Wadsworth ED staff for sending an entire village to care for Jeff.  Your professionalism and above and beyond care helped us through one of the most difficult days of our family’s life. Jeff's Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at the Silva-Hostetler Funeral Home, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Calling Hours will be held on Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
