Jerry Neil Hammell, 89, (3-2-33 – 9-19-22), of Norton, OH, passed peacefully after suffering a fall. Jerry is survived by his wife of almost 43 years, Patricia Pearl; and children Doug (Martha), John, Rick (Yvette), TC (Mara) and Beth; Grandchildren Al, Amber, Adam, Amelia, AnnMarie; Vanessa; Joseph, Patrick, Brandon, Kody; Robby, Jeffrey; Matt, Shawn, Tabatha, Nicole, Megan, Izabella; and their families, including twenty-three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by children Cheryl and Bob and grandchild Shawn.
Jerry was born in Lima, OH to Albert Nelson Hammell and Louise Josephine (nee Agerter) Hammell. He enlisted in the Navy during Korea, serving at Miramar Naval Air Station in San Diego. After the war, he owned/operated a gas station in Lima before a long career in the steel fabrication industry, working in Columbus, Springfield and Akron. He started his own steel fabrication business in Akron, working with sons John and TC.
Jerry was active in his community and politics throughout his life. In Norton, he had been active with the Lions, Jaycees, VFW, Elks, and Republican Club.
Per his wishes, no funeral or memorial service is immediately planned. Silva-Hostetler in Barberton is handling his cremation. The family wishes to thank the wonderful caring staff at Akron General and Cleveland Clinic Hospice Center(Akron).
