Joanne M. Naragon (Schake), 95, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2023. Joanne was born in Barberton to the late John and Mary (Momchilov) Schake and was a life resident and graduate of Barberton High School. She married her high school sweetheart Harold “Hal” on October 10, 1948 and was devoted to him throughout their entire marriage. She often traveled by herself to follow Hal throughout his career as a professional baseball player and continued to travel with him all over the country on annual sightseeing and golfing trips. She loved golfing and was proud of having two Hole-in-One’s. Joanne played in numerous golf and bowling leagues and was an avid sports fan listening to and watching different sports at the same time. She loved the Barberton Community and was always willing to help others. Joanne was a talented singer and up to the end she could be heard singing or humming her favorite songs. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 71 years, Harold “Hal”; parents John and Mary; and brothers Art and Jim Schake; she is survived by her daughter Pamela (Jeff) Yeck of Canton; grandsons Chad (Noel) Bradley and Evan (Amber) Bradley; great-grandchildren Whitney and Maverick; brother Bob Schake; sister Kathy Long; and numerous other relatives and close friends. Joanne's Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at the Silva-Hostetler Funeral Home, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. Rev. Rod Grabski officiating. Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Calling Hours Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the service time.
