Julijan Corej, 79 years of age, passed peacefully in his sleep on March 11, 2024.
Julijan was born on February 19, 1945, in Kucura, Yugoslavia. He spent his youth tending sheep in his grandparents' farm fields. He was a veteran of the Yugoslavian Army and also enjoyed performing in various musical productions.
He married his lifelong sweetheart in Biedenkopf, Germany, and later emigrated to the United States, becoming a naturalized citizen in 1974. Julijan, with his outgoing personality, made many friends while working as a meat cutter, caterer, and long-distance truck driver, where he earned his One Million Miles safety award.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Ann; his daughter Katarina (Keti) Daly, sons Julijan Corej (Sheree), and Steven Corej (Missy); grandchildren Holly, Amber, Wesley, Tallia, Tatianna, Kyan, Kahlan, Dahne, and Ezra; and great-grandchildren Joanna, Cooper, and Tessa.
Julijan's Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2024 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 204 Sixth St. NW., Barberton. Burial at St. Nicholas Cemetery. Calling Hours, Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the Silva-Hostetler Funeral Home, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Augustine Church.
