Leona T. Gipson

Leona Theresa Gipson, 74, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2022. She was born on September 19, 1947 to Thomas H. and Margaret V. Gipson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Thomas B. Gipson; and great-nephew Wyatt Howard; Leona was a beloved daughter and sister and was the oldest of six brothers and sisters She is survived by her sisters Janet Howard of Norton, Patricia (Erich) Bettle of Akron and Kathryn Rummer of Barberton; brother Tim (Kathryn) Gipson of Prescott, AZ; sister-in-law Karla Gipson; nephews and nieces Eric T. Howard, Chantelle Howard-Solis, Anna Rains, Steven Motich, Nick Bettle, Jonathan Bettle, Monica Pallone, Andrew Gipson and Allison Mahbubani; and nine great nieces and nephews.

Leona was an active member of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church and retired after 40 years from Summa Barberton Hospital. She was a loving, generous and kind soul who was a wonderful example of selfless and generous concern for others, worthy of imitation.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 4022 Johnson Rd. Norton. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling Hours Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the Silva-Hostetler Funeral Home, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton.
