Letty was born in Dayton, Ohio on July 24,1934 to Jesse L. and Martha J. Thomas. She was a long-time resident of Barberton, moving to the area in 1961.  She graduated in the top three of her class from Stivers High School (Dayton, OH) in 1952.  During her childhood years she was an accomplished swimmer and musician playing clarinet and saxophone, with performances at the Diehl Band Shell in Dayton. She attended Miami University (Oxford, OH), graduating in 1956 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She had a great appreciation for her Miami experience and was active with their local Alumni Association. Letty married Clarence John Angerer in August 1956, celebrating their 67th anniversary this past year. Together, they were a team, often sharing interests, volunteer work and activities as they raised their family and involvement continued into their retirement years.

Letty worked as an educator, homemaker, and employee of Stretch & Sew, Summit County Board of Elections and as Administrative Assistant at the Summit County Republican Headquarters. She attended St. Augustine Church, Barberton. She was an accomplished seamstress with creative skills including counted-cross stitch, crochet, tole painting, and knitting. She was very content when at her sewing machine, often staying up late into the night to finish her latest project. Letty and John traveled extensively within the US, Canada, Europe, Australia/New Zealand, Central America, and the Caribbean. She thoroughly enjoyed family and friends as well as volunteering in several local community groups, including Crescent Club and Barberton Jaycee Wives. For 50 years she volunteered in numerous roles for the World Series of Golf Championship and various golf tournaments held at Firestone Country Club. For her outstanding volunteer service, she was awarded the Dave Franklin Award from the Northern Ohio Golf Charities.
