Mary Josephine ‘Mary Jo’ (Izo) Nesitz passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 1st, 2023, at the age of 75 due to natural causes. Born on December 13th, 1947 to Frank and Josephine Izo, she was a lifelong Barberton resident. She was a Barberton graduate and after high school she entered the workforce, where she started at PPG Industries. While working at PPG, she married Robert Nesitz and went on to pursue her Bachelors in Psychology from the University of Akron. In her early retirement from PPG, she went on to obtain her Masters of Arts in Education. Putting her degree to use, she found her calling in working and influencing troubled youth. After spending 20 years doing what she loved, she fully retired in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. She loved crocheting and politics. She volunteered at Warm-Up Barberton once a month to help keep the Barberton community warm and was still actively working the polls at the YMCA on election days. Her favorite hobbies include: playing the piano, watching football, telling jokes, working on crosswords, and reading. Her favorite pastime was always spending time with her family. Mary Jo & Robert raised one daughter together, Denise Vorachek (Nesitz) who also became her best friend for life. She then became a grandmother to three grandchildren Todd, Sydney, and Bradley, who she loved with all her heart. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Nesitz, in 2005. She leaves her daughter and son-in-law Denise and Joe Vorachek; her grandchildren, Todd Eagle, Sydney (Dakota) Wintrow, and Bradley Eagle. Along with many people who love her very much and will miss her dearly. Calling hours will be Monday, November 6th, 2023 from 5:00-7:00pm at the Silva-Hostetler Funeral Home, 1199 Wooster Road West, Barberton. Memorial Service to follow at 7:00pm.
