NORTON---Michael C. Young lost his battle with COPD and lung cancer on October 9, 2021. Mike was born on October 8, 1953 to Bernard and Dorothy Young and grew up in Manchester, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bernard Jr. and his niece Holly Young. Surviving him is his wife of 43 years, Mickey; his son Thomas (TY); sisters-in-law JoAnn Lemmon and Carolyn Young; brother-in-law Jim Hudson; loving nieces Taylor Asbury, Michelle Gill and her beautiful family and lifelong friends Patricia Wyant, Jim and Joyce Drain and last but not least, his loving dog Prince. Mike also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that he loved dearly. Mike was a machinist and spent most of his career at Goodyear Aerospace and retired from Meggitt Aircraft Braking Systems as an inspector. Aside from his family, Mike’s greatest love was local live music. He spent many hours attending concerts throughout Ohio, PA and MI. While he attended concerts of national artists, his love was for local live music and he developed so many deep, loving friendships as a result of this. He would always say “all my friends are musicians.” Thank you to the guys of the Jimmy Rich Band, Memphis Cradle, LaFlavour, Liverpool Lads, Easy Street Band/Asbury All Stars, Aftermath, Experience the Sixties, AirChiefs/Outsiders and Jeff King for being a part of Mike’s life and a part of his fondest memories. A special thank you to John and Karla Casey (LaFlavour) and Joe and Janet Koch (Liverpool Lads) for their love and friendship. The family would like to also thank the entire team at Akron General Cleveland Clinic’s McDowell Cancer Center, especially Dr. Laurie Matt-Amaral and Chrissy, Dr. Anthony Cucci (Pulmonary) and Dr. Roberto Lebron (Primary Care) for the outstanding care provided in a loving caring way. Mike had the best “team” ever. Mike’s Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 6-8 p.m. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton.
