Patrick Weigand

Pat Weigand, 73, of Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully at the Cleveland Clinic Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center after a battle with cancer that lasted decades. 

A 1968 graduate of Barberton High School, Pat attended The University of Akron and spent two years in the United States Marine Corps stationed at Camp Lejeune.  He graduated from The University of Akron in 1975.  Following graduation, Pat began a 27-year career with The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. 

Pat retired from Goodyear in 2003.  He spent the next twenty years relaxing at the Portage Lakes, attending to his aging mother and younger sister, gardening and golfing with friends. 

Pat is survived by his daughter, Tracy Kucera, and her husband Kenneth of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and their daughter, Ella Bay. He is also survived by close friend and life companion, Carol Weigand of Akron, Ohio; sister, Sandra Costill and her husband Dan of Akron, Ohio; sister-in-law, Kathleen Weigand of Boulder, Colorado; niece Katherine Weigand; nephew Matthew Weigand and his wife Olive; nephew Christopher Weigand and his wife Courtney; niece Kimberly Corwin and her husband Jason and their two sons, Kai and Caden.  Pat was preceded in death by his daughter Laura Weigand, mother Mary Weigand, father William E. Weigand, brother George Weigand and sister Janet Weigand.

There will be a private, military burial at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at 10175 Rawiga Road in Seville, Ohio 44273.  No calling hours or services.  Donations may be made to BACM Food Pantry (939 Norton Avenue, Barberton, OH 44203 or bacm.org) or Disabled American Veterans (P.O.
