Philip M. Doell, P.E., 90, of Wadsworth, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2022.
Phil was born in Pittsfield, MA in January of 1932. At a young age his family moved to Cleveland where he graduated from St. Ignatius in 1950. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1954, where he was in the Navy ROTC program. He married the love of his life, Natalie Healy, in 1956. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. After his Naval service he worked as an engineer for Babcock and Wilcox in Barberton for 37 years.
He was involved in many church and civic originations, including FISH, Search, WCTV and the Wadsworth City Commission for traffic devices. He received many awards for his work at WCTV as a cameraman in studio and many high school sporting events.
Phil is preceded in death by his wife, Natalie; his parents, Phillip E. and Agnes G. (nee McGuire) Doell; brother, John (Pat) Doell; son, Jeffery and son-in-law, T.A. Arnold.
Phil is survived by his children: Susan M. Doell, Stephen Doell (Peggy Lagodny), and Melissa Baker (H.J); siblings: Agnes, James (Ami) and Thomas (Janet): Grandchildren: Cameron (Zenay Barrino), Malia, Brock and Ava; and great-Grandchildren: Zynia, Aliana, Riley, Ivy and Brooklyn; and countless wonderful neighbors and friends in the Wadsworth community.
Calling hours will be on Monday July 11, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1263 Shannon Ave., Norton. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m., Father Robert Jackson celebrant. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Phil requests that attendees wear bright colors.
