BARBERTON---Richard Joseph Waltz passed away the morning of July 31, 2021 with family by his side. He was born January 22, 1936, in Barberton, Ohio, the son of Eleanor and Joseph Waltz.
Richard was a 1954 graduate of St. Mary High School, where he met his wife Beverly (née Frattura). Richard received a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1959 from the University of Notre Dame. He worked for Babcock & Wilcox for 35 years, before working for the City of Barberton for more than a decade. He was a longtime supporter of St. Vincent-St. Mary High School and the Magic City Kiwanis Club in Barberton.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly (whom he married in 1958), and six wonderful sons: Joseph, Tom (Amy), John, Paul (Rebecca), James (Kerstin), and Richard (Tracy). He leaves behind 10 loving grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 2, from 5pm to 8pm at SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd West., Barberton. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 10am at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 204 6th St NW, Barberton, OH 44203. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery.
