After 50 years, he retired from the Operating Engineers, Local union 18. His greatest passion was owning 20 motorcycles and riding thousands of miles over his lifetime many of them around Lake Anna. A few of his adventures include riding to support Bikers for Boobs (13 years), other various Poker Runs, and most recently completing the Tail of the Dragon in Tennessee. Roger loved tinkering with projects, volunteering, Star Trek, his guns, watching movies, hunting,  meeting new people and spending time with his family.

After high school Roger joined the US Navy from 1967 to 1973 where he was stationed on the USS America CVA 66, was a 3rd Class Aviation Boatswains mate and worked crash and salvage on deck. Later in life he spent 7 years in the civil air patrol Barberton squadron 1400. Became a Notary Public which lasted for 41 years. Roger served 6+ years as a fire fighter and paramedic for Franklin Township. While there he started a dive team, as he was a NAUI Scuba diver with 5 certifications threw PADI from 1964 to present.

As a Vietnam Vet himself, Roger volunteered for the Ohio Veterans Memorial Park in Clinton and was elected as the parks 2nd president. He enjoyed working, helping and just being out at the park on nice days.

Roger took great pride in riding his motorcycle and volunteering with the Patriot Guard escorting vets to their final resting place.

In 1989 Roger joined the Star Fleet International Star Trek Fan Association where he started the ships USS Arizona out of Canton, USS Ohio out of Barberton and USS Excalibur out of Dover, Ohio. Has been the Region One Chief of Shuttle Operations for 21 years and in 2011 was awarded the rank of 4-star Admiral for contributions to the organization for the 30+ years he has participated.

Roger wished to tell everyone, " LIVE YOUR LIFE TO THE FULLEST BECAUSE

THE DREAM YOU DREAM ALONE IS ONLY A DREAM - THE DREAM YOU DREAM TOGETHER IS REALITY- REALITY IS FOR THOSE THAT CANT HANDLE STAR TREK." LIVE LONG AND PROSPER

The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to, Shelby, the doctors and all the staff of Akron City Summa heart and lung floor and to Windsor House in Doylestown for their love, care and support of Roger and his family.

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free
I am following the path God laid for me
I took his hand when I heard him call,
I turned my back and left it all
I could not stay another day
to laugh, to love, to work or play
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found that peace at the close of the day
If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Ah, these things I, too, will miss
Be not burdened with time of sorrow
I wish for you the sunshine of tomorrow
My life has been full, I savored much
Good friends, good times
a loved one touched
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
Don't lenghthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your heart and share with me
God wanted me now; He set me free
