Rose Marie was born on August 5, 1951 and went home to the Lord on February 21, 2023 after a short illness.
She was preceded in death by her parents Steve and Josephine (Ligas) Machek. She is survived by her stepdaughter Shelley (Jim) Porosky, stepson Erik (Allison) Lucas, brother Stephen (Sharon) Machek, sister Marlene Machek, grandchildren Grant and Nate, nephews Stephen Jr., Wayne and Thomas, niece Olivia (Jonathan) Pope and great nephew Lucas. She also leaves many cousins and friends.
You knew when Rose arrived at any gathering because you heard her infectious laugh and saw her irresistible smile — both inherited from her father. During her life she remained one of the authentically optimistic people.
Rose especially enjoyed teaching at Holy Trinity school, playing the guitar at the House of Prayer and at the folk mass at St. Augustine’s with Father Thomas McCann. Her religion was an important part of her life and in her later years she served as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector and member of the parish council at St. Peter of the Fields church with Fr. David Misbrener. She also remained close to Fr. Edward Lajack the pastor of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church.
Any gathering of family and friends found her there with a joy filled smile and twinkling eyes. Her dogs Beau and Luc were her companions and a comfort to her.
She will be dearly missed by all, but don’t be surprised if you hear an echo of a laugh at sometime.
Cremation has taken place. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 204 Sixth St NW, Barberton. Fr. Bill Browne celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
