1 Timothy 6: 11-12
But thou, O man of God, flee
These things; and follow after
Righteousness, godliness, faith,
Love, patience, meekness
Russell J. Shaffer born March 2, 1948. (Joe) was born in Fairmont West Virginia. Joe was called home to stand before our Lord with the reassurance of all that knew him September 29, 2023, that he did hear our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ say “Well Done Enter In.” Joe was a quiet, gentle strong Christian man who was always able to share the word of God, and to recall old stories and events from his life to his family and friends. He was the fourth child of the late Roxie B. (Vincent) and Father Herman Shaffer. He was preceded in death by his older brother Herman Shaffer, and sweet sister Karolyn Davisson. Joe will be missed by his oldest sister Belva Burlingame of Green. Many Nephews and Nieces that he loved and always prayed for. Brother-in-laws, Dave (Monika), Chuck (Julie), Joe, Paul (Martina) and Forrest Sharier. Sister-in-law Helene Alderman. Last but not least our dog and friend Little Buddy. Joe will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife Sandra (Sharier) Shaffer. And beloved step-son Ross Blankenship of Clinton. Joe will be fondly remembered and loved by his four grandsons; Joshua, Ethan, Joel and Ben. Special thank you and recognition to Joe's friends and brother-in-laws, Paul Sharier, Forest Sharier and Dave Sharier. Joe proudly served in the U.S. Army as a truck driver, during the Vietnam Era (The 196th Light Infantry Brigade) He spent his 21st birthday in a bunker in Vietnam. A proud Veteran and showed complete respect to all fellow veterans. Joe loved driving Semi Tractor Trucks for many years, as he traveled from one end of the United States to the other. Joe attended and worshiped our Lord at Calvary Wesleyan Church, Barberton, under his young friend and mentor Pastor Gage Norem. Through many years his Christian mentors were, Pastor Robert Webb, Pastor Rodney Mullins, and Pastor John Primrose. Joe will be gratefully missed by all who loved him. He fought a good fight, he kept the faith, he won the race!
