Steven Paul Underation, 55, passed away unexpectedly on September 28, 2021. He was born on April 22, 1966 in Akron, Ohio to Patricia (Burian) and Joseph R. Underation. Steve was a 1984 graduate of Barberton High School where he was a member of the golf team. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Management at Akron University in 1988 and a Master’s degree in Business Administration in 1993. While at Akron University, Steve was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity where he served as their Pledge Master for two years. Steve married the love of his life, Lisa Morgan on January 16, 1999. Together Steve and Lisa raised three wonderful sons, David, Daniel, and Nathan. Steve was a Sales Engineer and an entrepreneur. He was an active member of Faith Family Church where he was a Connect Group and Starting Point Leader. He was a member of many organizations including the Slovak Catholic Sokol, the Antique Outboard Motor Club, the National Speakers Organization, and the National Polka Hall of Fame. During his time with the Slovak Catholic Sokol, Steve was the Director of Group 5 and the Vice President of Assembly 167. He was a four time senior drill champion director, one of his prouder achievements. He was a man who had many interests and a wide range of talents. Steve was his three sons biggest sports fan (and critic). He started out coaching all three of his sons teams at a young age, and even when he could no longer coach, you could always bet on seeing him in the crowd watching as intently as a coach to what was going on in the games. Steve was known for his love of golf, baseball, fishing, polka music, playing the accordion, mushroom hunting, cooking, canning peppers and pickles, rebuilding boat motors, and most importantly, family traditions, especially the annual Christmas caroling. If you did not see him walking around with his reindeer hat on and a bowl of gizzard soup in his hand, you were in the wrong place. He was also a two-time winner of the Bay Village Annual Rib cook-off with his group “The Smokin’ Slovaks”. Steve will be best remembered for the way he could work a room - he could carry on a meaningful conversation about any topic intensely, share wonderfully descriptive stories, and wickedly funny jokes. Steve was a cerebral, habitual, and a natural-born leader. He was also kind, caring, and supportive - many were touched by his generosity. His acts of kindness included bringing food and prayers to anyone in need, sitting with loved ones who were ill, and sharing his eloquent eulogies for beloved family members and friends. But, by far, Steve’s greatest passion was for his family. He was a loving husband, an involved and proud father to three sons, a helpful and supportive son and brother, and a constant and dependable uncle, cousin, and friend. Steve will be greatly missed by all those who knew him and loved him. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph R. Underation and his mother-in-law, Bonnie Morgan. Steve is survived by his wife, Lisa, his sons, David, Daniel, and Nathan, his mother, Patricia, his brothers, Joe (Robin) Underation, John (Kelly) Underation, and his father-in-law, Wayne Morgan. He is also survived by his niece, Emily (Jacob Carruthers) Underation, and his nephews, Matthew, Luke, Joshua, Ben and numerous caring aunts, uncles and cousins. Steve's Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 4, 2021 at Wintergreen Ledges Church of God, 1889 Vernon Odom Blvd., Akron. Pastor Jim Roma officiating. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling Hours will be held on Sunday, October 3, 2021 from 3-7 p.m. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton.
