Susanna C. (Caporaso) Roma

Susanna (nee Caporaso) Roma, 103, relocated to Heaven on Saturday January 25, 2020. She was a woman of sincere faith in Christ Jesus and a deep love for her family and friends. Susanna was born on February 21, 1916 in Roseto, Pennsylvania. Her father, James D. Caporaso owned and operated one of the first Italian-English newspapers in America, the Stella di Roseto (the Roseto Star). Susanna graduated from Bangor High School. She enjoyed reading good literature and wrote hundreds of high quality prose and poems, having several books of her works published. Susanna received many awards for her poetry. Her book of poetry, Through Daisied Fields, was published and placed on the online market in the Spring of 2018. She lived much of her life in the Slate Belt area of Pennsylvania and then in the Reading/Pottstown area in the town of Birdsboro, PA. She was very involved in the Birdsboro Church of the Nazarene, senior organizations and poetry clubs. Since the Fall of 2017, she lived with her son and daughter-in-law, Pastor Jim and Maryann Roma, in Norton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 49 years, Henry Roma and her grandson, Jason Roma. She is survived by her children Celestina (Daniel) Thibodeau; Alita (Pasquale) Abruzzese; James (Maryann) Roma; Samuel (Josephine) Roma along with twelve grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She leaves behind many wonderful friends. Susanna’s family extend a special ‘thank you’ to Dr. Benson Bonyo and his Staff, to (nurse) Shawna, and to the Underation family for their loving affection given to Susanna. For Ohio family and friends, calling hours will be on Thursday, January 30 from 4:00 to 8:00 at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. Susanna will be transported to Pennsylvania where the following arrangements have been made. Funeral services will be held, Monday, February 3, 2020, at 11 AM at the Ruggiero Funeral Home, LLC, www.ruggierofuneralhome.com, 126 E. Pennsylvania Avenue, Pen Argyl. There will be viewing hours, Sunday February 2 from 4 PM until 7 PM and Monday beginning at 10 AM until time of services at the funeral home. Interment will be immediately following the service at St. John’s Cemetery, Bangor. As an alternative to flowers, memorial donations in Susanna’s name may be made to a charity or church.
