Thomas Schick Obituary

NEW FRANKLIN---Thomas M. Schick born Jan. 9, 1952 passed away unexpectedly Dec. 25, 2021. Tom was a kind, respected, and hard-working man with an unwavering sense of humor and a steadfast faith in God. To know him was to love him and he will be deeply missed.

Tom was born in Barberton, OH and graduated from Barberton High School in 1970. He received an honorary degree from the School of Hard Knocks. He is survived by his loving wife, Eva (Adkins). Tom and Eva were married Feb. 14, 1978 and after 43 years of marriage, he would say they were still on their honeymoon. He is also survived by daughter, Angela Anderson, who is eternally grateful for his advice and corny jokes; amazing sisters Pattie Black; Karen (Fitz) James; Kathleen (Reginald) Owens and Pamela (Bruce) Reynolds; and granddaughter, Eva Anderson, who was one of his most cherished blessings. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Elizabeth Schick; and brothers William and John Schick.

Tom lived in New Franklin, OH with his family where he built his dream home, a log cabin in the woods. He loved nature and enjoyed hunting, fishing and bird-watching. He spent many crisp mornings in his tree stand and summer nights by the bonfire. Tom played the drums, loved music, and had a knack for writing poetry. He wrote poems every year for Christmas and had one published in a book. This year, we hope he played his drums at Jesus's birthday party. He loved history, particularly war documentaries, and held those who serve our country in the highest regard.

In his earlier years, Tom worked at Parasson's Restaurant where he met Eva. He was the original owner of Thomas' Olde Ohio Drive-Thru on Arlington Rd. and maintained his entrepreneurial spirit throughout his life. "Tator Tom" as he was known, spent most of his career as an owner-operator delivering Dan-Dee Potato Chips and more recently Little Debbie Snacks. He made many life-long friends with the people he worked with on these routes.

They say all good things must come to an end,

       We wish that wasn't true.

When we see a deer, full moon, or beautiful sunrise,

We will smile and think of you.
