Virginia M. (Seiford) Stuver

The advance of age robbed her of her health, and eventually her life, but it never diminished the gracious and lively smile that Virginia Mae Stuver held for every person she met.
After a decline over the past year, Virginia died January 17 at age 97 at the home of her daughter, Janet in Cuyahoga Falls.
A long time resident of Barberton, Virginia was a devoted mother. She regularly spent time with her developmentally disabled son Kenneth – early on at Apple Creek State Hospital, volunteering with the ARC, and in recent years she provided regular respites from his group home in Summit County on weekends and holidays.
Virginia was a faithful member of Lakeview United Methodist Church in Barberton for over 60 years, and valued the many friends among its members. A person of strong faith, she participated in the Gathering, the choir, and Young at Heart.
She was a Sunday school teacher, school room Mother,  Brownie leader, and she sewed beautiful clothes for her three daughters, and helped wherever she was needed.
She helped make blankets for the homeless from grocery store plastic bags. Even with her limited sight, she was able to precisely fold the plastic bags, and would work at least one hour each day on this project for many years, as her way to give to others. She appreciated the many, many friends who saved their grocery bags for her.
She retired from her long-time job as a clerk at the Barberton Municipal Court where her cheerful demeanor and sunny disposition could warm the heart of the coldest barrister.  She retired to work part time work at the Barberton Library History Department.
Virginia loved ALL animals; especially her cat Molly who was a loyal companion. She would visit alpaca shows, cat shows, dog shows and would take time to visit animals at shelters. She volunteered at the Summit County Historical Society, Summit County Special Olympics, and was past president of the Barberton City Club.
She enjoyed one tank trips to Malabar Farm, Amish country, the Columbus Zoo, the Akron Zoo, the Farm at Walnut Creek, and her annual fall pumpkin tasting excursions.
She enjoyed Frank Sinatra, Big Band music, bird watching, sitting outside on the front porch, Judge Judy, and visits from her neighborhood four legged friend, Blue.
If you knew Virginia, you knew she loved to send greeting cards to everyone.  She sent Halloween cards, Thanksgiving cards, Valentines, and birthday cards.
She addressed and sent almost 70 Christmas cards in 2019.  She faithfully sent a card to Kenny at the group home - each and every week – a card filled with stickers and lots of love. Her hobbies included counted cross stitch, gardening, and she was an avid reader until she lost her sight to macular degeneration.
Virginia will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her daughters, Janet, Susan (Roger) Murray, and her son Kenneth. Virginia was preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Elizabeth, her parents and brother Frank.
She had so many wonderful friends from young to old and loved each and every one of them. She had special names for some of them to help her remember unique traits they possessed: Mrs. Burns, Debbie Cape Cod, Linda who goes to the movies, Debbie Curly Hair, Molly the Nurse, Kielbasa Joe, and Greta the Nurse.
With the Brown family in Zanesville, she enjoyed Face Time chats, cards, and photos (Meredith, Kevin, Reece, Tobin and Beatrix) and had wonderful times visiting their home when they lived in Delaware. She was an instrumental part of “Camp Jan” when they would come up to Cuyahoga Falls to spend a staycation with her.
Virginia had an extended family relationship with the Lieberths - David and Lynne, Emma (Nate) Osborn and daughter Evelyn, Genevieve and Paige Lytton and their father Alec. Over the last year, her favorite day of the week was Friday when Paige came to make lunch for “Baginia” and they shared waffles with syrup and whipped cream. She enjoyed her new “Pen Pal” friendship with Owen Garman that started during the Covid pandemic. She wanted him to know he was not alone during the stay at home orders.
Per her wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral. If you wish memorials may be made to One of a Kind where she found her beloved Molly, 1929 W.
