Joan and entire family,

So saddened to learn of Jim's passing. He was a gem for sure. Bob was forever indebted to him for sharing his knowledge about apples and various fruit tree grafting. His knowledge shared with Amy for her articles was unmatched. I will be thinking of you all.

My cousin Jim was one of the kindest, sweetest people who God ever blessed to be on earth. He was always very kind to me and very gentle. I am ten years his junior and when he came to visit I was always treated as a little sister. He was a good and decent man who carried for others and kept in contact with his father's people, including my mother, Hazel Margaret Gerbig Stoll. Jim's father , Blaine Whitaker, was the issue of a marriage of my Grandmother Ida Edgel Holden Whitaker, when she lived in northern Georgia. My mother was the issue of my grandmother to George Gerbig, after she moved to Barberton on the death of her first husband. We will all miss the marvelous being who was Jim Whitaker - look closely at his picture and that bright eyed, loving adventuresome smile was who he was.

I am so sorry at Jim's passing. He was the kindest man I ever knew. When we were all young I found his sense of humor so natural. I think of his direction given to my son, Nick. Jim helped lead Nick in the time he needed help. He led him to know his Lord and Savior; and now Nick is helping so many others. I pray Christ will get you through these difficult days.

Dear Joan & family~~I am so sorry to hear about Jim. I never saw him that he didn't give me a compliment. He also let me drive his Excaliber. He said he knew that I could drive it because anyone who drove a school bus could drive it. He also let me take two of my grandson's for a ride in the car. I have missed you over the years. I re-married a few years ago, but lost my husband Tom, 5 years ago. I can feel your pain, as I know how much you & Jim loved each other. It showed. I know you will miss him, but I'm so glad that he's with our Heavenly Father.

Joan, Tommy & Family,
We are so very sorry to hear of Jim's passing. He was a wonderful neighbor to us and we will never forget him. We looked forward to his surprise deliveries from the orchard - his cider, apples, peaches, and berries were the best! He was always willing to lend a helping hand when he saw us outside. He was a great man. We will keep all of you in our prayers.
