Welcome to the memorial page for

Eleanor Marie (Theriault) Beck

August 27, 1919 ~ October 1, 2016 (age 97) 97 Years Old

Eleanor was born in Gran Anse, New Brunswick, Canada and immigrated to the United States with her family when she was about 12 years old.  She was one of six girls in the Theriault family and grew up in Barberton, Ohio.  She and her family all became proud naturalized American citizens.  She attended Barberton High School where she met her husband of sixty-eight years, James F. Beck who preceded her in death in 2009. Eleanor had a wonderful voice and sang for many years in the choir at St. Augustine Church.  She also became quite a fisherwoman and huntress and enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips with husband, Jim.  They travelled all over the country, including Alaska, by car and recreational vehicle.  She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed many different card games.  She really enjoyed dancing and became quite a line dancer well into her late 70’s.  She made many quilts and was an accomplished seamstress, making items of clothing for herself and her children, including formals for the daughters and at least one wedding dress.  She was a highly awarded Avon sales lady for many years.  She spent almost six years enjoying life at Brookdale Senior Living (Chambrel) in Montrose.  She participated in many activities there, including bingo and thoroughly enjoyed her life. Eleanor is also preceded in death by her five Theriault sisters, her five Beck brothers and sisters-in-law, her son-in-law, Jon D Carlson, and daughter-in-law, Vicki Beck.  She is survived by her children, Pamela (Andrew) Brann, Barbara (Bernard Jakicic) Carlson, Timothy Beck, James Beck, Jeffrey (Rachael) Beck, and Patricia (Richard) Vartenuk.  She was greatly loved by grandchildren Adam (Emily) Beck, Jeffrey Beck, Kaitlin Beck, Nicholas (Allison) Beck, Brianna Johnson, Kortney (Jeffrey) Cole, Kristin (Jake) Zielinski. She was also equally loved by step-grandchildren Mandi Vartenuk, Lacy Vartenuk,  Michael (Holly) Jones, Brandy Jones, Dillon Barillaro, Taylor (Christopher) Anderson, and Caleb Barillaro.  Her great-grandchildren, Noah, Ava, Mia, Tranum, Raylan, Jackson, Chandler and Julian will miss their great grandma very much.  Eleanor is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.  She will be greatly missed by all as she was the last of her generation in the families. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 204-6th St. NW, Barberton. Calling Hours Friday, October 21st from 5-8 P.M. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton.
